Vive la Bagatelle
Fan paper decorated with riddles, tags, mottoes, etc. Cream paper, leaf engraved with verses and riddles as if on tablets, scrolls and pieces of paper. In centre an owl reading a book (on Logic), with accompanying verse in oval frame, over which written: "Vive la Bagatelle"; background of small all over motif. Top edge classical swags. At each side edge are the days of the week with accompanying invitations, concert programmes, etc. At bottom edge: "Published by Sarah Ashton & Co. No 28, Little Britain, Jany 1, 1797", "Entered at Stationers Hall". [NB Includes tickets for Ranelagh and Pantheon masked balls]. Schreiber No. 207 'Conundrums', p 98.
