Vue Perspective de la Prison de Newgate a Londres.
Newgate Prison, designed by George Dance the Younger, built 1770-1780, and demolished 1902 to make way for the Old Bailey (Central Criminal Courts).
The setting, including the building at the right, are fanciful and based on Piranesi's vedute. A violent mob is presumably intended to recall the Gordon Rioters who attacked and badly damaged the prison on 2 June 1780.
