Jah T of Channel One Sound System, Notting Hill Carnival
One of 11 prints by Eddie Otchere documenting Channel One Sound System at Notting Hill Carnival in August 2019. Run by Mikey Dread, Jah T and Ras Kayleb, Channel One has been a keystone of the Carnival since 1983 where it is located on the corner of Leamington Road Villas and Westbourne Park Road. These photos capture the build-up of the Carnival, from early morning sound tests to dancing crowds, as well as the moment when all sound systems switched off for 72 seconds silence to remember the Londoners that died in the fire at nearby Grenfell Tower in 2017.
