Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1741
The Motion
Lord Carteret moved in the House of Lords on 13.2.1741 to remove Walpole from office; it was supported with potentially counterproductive vigour by the Duke of Argyll. Carteret is seen here in a coach in Whitehall crying "Let me get out" as he is driven furiously by Argyll. For the other figures, see BM Satire catalogue no. 2479.
