Sound of London DJ Collective open call 2026

London DJs, this is your moment. Ahead of the launch of the new London Museum in Smithfield, we’re assembling the Sound of London DJ Collective, sponsored by Morley’s. We’re looking for 12 bold, emerging DJs, who can tap into the sounds electrifying London’s streets and dance floors today.

From soaring ambient to ballroom bangers, we welcome applications from DJs who play across any and all musical styles. We want to represent the diversity of London’s musical tastes across a broad spectrum of ages, identities and backgrounds. So, whether you’ve been DJing since childhood or you’ve picked it up in retirement, we’d love to hear from you.

The new London Museum opens in Smithfield on 28 November 2026, with free permanent galleries. In collaboration with the iconic chicken shop Morley’s and Hive Curates, the collective will shift the museum’s mood from day to night. Every Friday and Saturday night, the museum stays open late until 11pm. You'll curate the soundtrack for these late opening hours.

These sessions will shape the evolving atmosphere of Our Time, a striking new social space at the museum. It reimagines the trading floor of the historic Victorian General Market as a vibrant gathering place. Under the heritage ironwork and beautifully restored dome, the DJ Collective will remix the space, taking it from a daytime destination to an energetic evening venue.

Selected DJs will play regular paid sets on rotation. As our Head of Creative Programmes Dhikshana Turakhia Pering says, “The Sound of London DJ Collective celebrates the people, neighbourhoods, local spaces and moments that bring this city to life… We’re looking for DJs with a unique voice and a connection to London’s sounds and stories, to help create great times for everyone.”

• Regular paid DJ sets in London Museum, at £250 per set, as part of the weekly late-night programme on Friday and Saturday evenings. Successful applicants can expect to play roughly one set per month starting from  November 2026 to November 2027
• A welcome workshop hosted by the museum, where you’ll met your fellow DJs and be introduced to the equipment and programme in more detail
• You'll have the opportunity to learn about sound system culture with legendary London-based Reggae DJ, MC and club promoter Don “Papa Face” Facey
• Professional headshots
• Three professional development sessions (online/in person)
• Artist sessions – space, time and budget to socialise with DJ Collective members

Here’s what we’re looking for:

• Experience of live DJ performance across a range of contexts and audiences, including but not limited to parties, bars, galleries, clubs and radio stations
• You're over 18
• You have the right to work in the UK
• You must be currently living in one of the 33 London boroughs
• You want to learn about sound-system culture
• You love challenges and can work to a brief
• You're willing to play an active role in establishing and representing the collective
• You have a unique musical taste that is representative of London's music scene now

The open call runs across three stages:

1. Written application, closing date 14 August 2026: You can’t save the form below, so draft your answers separately first
2. Video application: 50 longlisted DJs will be invited to submit a 10–15-minute mix, with an online Q&A on 16 September
3. Live auditions: The top 24 will play a live 15-minute set for a panel of industry judges on 23 or 24 October. The judges will assess how you perform as well as how you read and respond to an audience. Their feedback will inform the selection of the final 12 members of the collective
