A powerful participatory textile art project created by artist Tisna Westerhof and art producer Cristiana Bottigella, in collaboration with the Iranian & Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO).

Over three months, more than 30 women survivors of domestic abuse took part in artist-led workshops, creating embroidered and appliquéd textile pieces that express resilience, hope and solidarity.

The display presents three collaborative quilts: Hi Girls, I’m New, To Live Is To Rise, and We, The Women – each shaped by the stories, symbolism and collective decisions of the participants.

Rooted in the communal tradition of quilting, the works transform personal narratives into shared expressions of welcome, strength and justice.

Supported by Arts Council England, the project celebrates creativity as a tool for empowerment and connection.

Following international presentations, the quilts are exhibited at London Museum Studios before their permanent installation across IKWRO’s London refuges and offices.
