Teacher training
Teacher training sessions are available to trainee primary and secondary teachers via their university courses.
Free training for trainee teachers
We offer free training for primary and secondary trainee teachers to help you prepare for and make the most out of museum learning.
These sessions build confidence and practical skills in creating memorable learning experiences you can apply both in the classroom and beyond.
You’ll also explore how the museum’s unique location connects local stories to global histories, opening up rich, place-based and cross-curricular learning.
Plus, you’ll participate in an object handling session including tips on how to include objects within the classroom.
What we offer
The sessions last between 60–90 minutes (depending on your group’s requirements) and takes place onsite at London Museum Docklands. The sessions aim to help you:
- develop confidence using object-based learning to create impactful, hands-on learning experiences
- deepen your knowledge of local history so you can meaningfully connect your visit to classroom topics
- familiarise yourself with our schools programmes and resources, designed to support you and inspire your students
