A police guard waiting in a corridor outside a meeting of the Women's Social and Political Union held at Caxton Hall. The meeting described on flyers as a Conference of Women to discuss the suffrage bill included speeches by the Suffragette leaders Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst, Annie Kenney, Emmeline Pethick Lawrence and Charlotte Despard. This meeting, was one of several held at Caxton Hall in March 1907 in response to the failure of W.H. Dickenson's Private Member's Women's Suffrage Bill that was 'talked out' of the House of Commons on 8th March.
The image, previously in an album compiled by Nurse Pine has been annotated by her 'Police waiting in the area of Caxton Hall, where the raiders met before going to Downing Street". Dated 20th March 1907'
