The Australian Prime Minister Mr W.M (Billy) Hughes greeting a line of female munitions workers during his tour of the UK in 1916.
Hughes, a committed supporter of the war effort, was greeted enthusiastically by crowds throughout his tour of British cities, including Manchester and Liverpool. Whilst in London he was invited to sit on the war cabinet to the delight of the British public.
