Suffragette's Letter to the King
Press Photograph depicting Lady Barclay and Edith Fitzgerald attempting to deliver a petition to King George V on behalf of Emmeline Pankhurst and the WSPU. The petition had been refused the previous evening so the women attempted to deliver it in person. The image shows them outside Buckingham Palace. As the women demanded an audience with the King, Supt Wells politely but firmly had the ladies removed and escorted to a taxi.
