The Closed Doors
Picture postcard titled "The Closed Doors", showing a winged man holding a sword and a paper entitled "Servants Insurance Act". He stands in front of three women who are distressed. Behind the figure to the left is a woman in a doorway with "Situation" written above it, and the caption: "The Mistress 'I cannot pay the tax & keep you when you are ill' ". Immediately behind the winged figure is a doorway, above which reads "Sanatorium. No more accommodation"". To the right of the figure is a doorway with a man standing in it, above which is written "Hospital" and the caption: "The Doctor 'You are not fit to work, but you are not ill enough to be admitted here' ". At the bottom of the postcard is written "The Servants 'We have no homes, what are we to do with only 7/6 a week?".
