Issued to the Annual Conference of the Women's Freedom League

Printed statement issued at the Annual Conference of the Women's Freedom League by the National Executive Committee. The statement refers to, what the WFL feel are inaccuracies in an article entitled 'Women and Women's Work' published in the Reformer's Year Book for 1908 and written by Frederick Pethick Lawrence in relation to the split in the WSPU that led to the formation of the WFL. The Annual Conference resolved that this leaflet be issued to press and public and editors of Reformer's Year Book to request they withdraw the inaccurate article from circulation. The anger of the Committee in particular refers to Pethick Lawrence's Anger 'misrepresentation' of the facts surrounding the split in the WSPU that led to the formation of the Women's Freedom League. Pethick-Lawrence's reference to the to the 'seceders' as a minority of members of the WSPU is disputed in the leaflet as is the claim that Charlotte Despard made a pledge to the Labour Party that the WSPU would support labour candidates. The leaflet also notes the article's failure to mention Charlotte Despard's part in the raid on the House of Commons in 1907.
The angry tone of the leaflet reflects the continued bitterness between the WSPU and the WFL.
