Women's Emancipation
Pro-female suffrage propaganda postcard printed in the purple, white and green colour scheme of the Women's Social and Political Union. Signed by the artist Mary Slee the symbolic postcard, depicts the female figure of Justice standing on top of the earth her scales being balanced manually by a military and classical figures representing truth, equality and comradeship. To the left is a beaming sun with rays marked 'Women's Emancipation.' Below is printed a verse from a poem by Tennyson 'Look up and let they nature strike on mine, like yonder morning on the blind half world'. Addressed to Miss Turner.
