Printed Ephemera — 1910
The New Mrs Partington
This pro-female suffrage propaganda postcard was designed and published by the artist and enamellist Ernestine Mills. The image depicts Mrs Partington of the Anti-Suffrage Society and her attempt to keep out the tide of women's suffrage. She admits that the tide of 'professional women, taxpayers, Liberal, Socialist and Conservative women ... keeps rising'. The inscription on the reverse has been scribbled out, postmark dated April 17 1902.
