Miss Helen Ogston
Postcard with photographic portrait of Helen Ogston (1883-?). Beneath is printed 'Miss Helen Ogston. National Women's Social and Political Union' and the organisation's address.
Helen Ogston graduated from Aberdeen University with a science degree then qualified as a sanitary inspector. She and her sister Constance joined the WSPU in 1908. Ogston achieved publicity for using a dog whip to defend herself against assaults from two men during a meeting in the Albert Hall when she heckled Lloyd George. In 1909 Ogston worked for the WSPU in Brighton. In 1910 she became organizer for the New Constitiutional Society for Women's Suffrage.
