Tobacco pipe, clay pipe
Complete bowl. Moulded decoration: vine scroll along bowl seams, on front only, and Arms of The Company of Watermen and Lightermen of the River Thames, on the back facing smoker : a quartered shield, with cushion and pair of crossed oars (depicted as four dots around a rectangle) in the first and second quarters, and skiff with oarsman across the third and fourth, a pair of dolphins as supporters, and a ribbon with motto [AT] COMMAND OF [OUR] SUPERIOR[S]. A blurred moulding, with motto only partly legible. Moulded marks on sides of heel, in relief, H (left side facing smoker) B (right side). Atkinson and Oswald (1969) type 27
