Sentinels of the British Empire: souvenir of the Thames naval pageant 1909
One of several souvenir guides published for the Thames naval review in 1909. Naval reviews were usually held to demonstrate the nation’s naval strength and latest warships. This guide featured many full page photographs and adopted a slightly more militaristic tone than usual – perhaps reflecting the growing tension between the European powers.
