The Post Office Tower, now known as the BT Tower. The tower was built to provide support for ariels which transmitted and received radio, television and telephone signals in and out of London. The tower is located near to Tottenham Court Road and was officially opened in 1966. Architects Eric Bedford and G. R. Yeats designed the 177m tower which accommodated a further 39m of ariel. For many years it was one of the tallest buildings in London.
