Pupil Sairtokh Bhambra working at a BHS (previously known as British Home Stores) shop in January 1972. Work experience is a programme allowing pupils who are in the last year of compulsory schooling to spend a week learning about working life. Although positions are unpaid the students can find out about particular professions, learn about the work environment and have the chance to create networks for future job opportunities.
