Kindergarten at the American School in London
The Kindergarten or Nursery at the American School in London. The school was founded by Stephen Eckard in 1951 largely to help his colleagues at the BBC who were finding significant differences between the English and American Curriculum's which caused difficulties when families returned to the United States. The two system are entirely different and it was felt also important that pupils learnt primarily about American history not British. This photograph was taken shortly after a new school building opened in 1971.
