Family looking at the pigeons in Trafalgar Square
Family feeding the pigeons in Trafalgar Square in 1962. The large flock of pigeons were a common sight in the square and tourists could even buy bird seed to feed them until a bylaw was passed in 2003 banning the practice. The birds caused much damage to the buildings around the square and cleaning up after them costs thousands of pounds every year.
