Crowds outside Madame Tussauds
People outside Madame Tussauds. In 1835 the Madame Tussauds exhibition opened as 'The Baker Street Bazaar' and entrance was just 6 pence. Originally the exhibition provided an insight into the events of the French Revolution with displays of death masks and the Guillotine that beheaded Marie Antoinette. The attraction opened on its present site on Marylebone Road in 1884. By the 20th Century Madame Tussauds became a commentary on popular culture with more mannequins of famous celebrities than historical figures.
