Playhouse at the Cumberland Market Community Play Centre
Playhouses at the Cumberland Market Community Play Centre. These play houses were for the children to play creatively and were simply designed so that they could be used as houses, schools, ticket offices, cafe etc. The play centre and playground itself opened in 1953 and as well as the houses also included a sand pit, a large climbing frame made from a decommissioned steam roller, a mini town with shops and a road on which the children could drive play cars.
