Audience at filming of 'Ready Steady Go' television programme
‘Ready Steady Go’ was one of the first pop television programmes which was broadcast between 1963 – 1966. It was shown on Friday night and was in competition with BBC television’s show ‘Top of the Pops’. The show was recorded at the Rediffusion’s studios in Kingsway, London. The show was known for it’s catchphrase ‘The weekend starts here’. The audience were very much part of the show and applicants for tickets were chosen by how ‘cool’ they looked and how well they danced.
