These bikers are outside the Ace Café on the North Circular Road. This was a popular haunt for 'Ton-Up boys', also known as rockers. Arriving on their motorbikes, they would congregate here to mend their bikes, play rock-n-roll music on the jukeboxes, and socialise. A favourite thrill was ‘record racing’. The aim was to put a record on the jukebox, then race each other to a chosen place and back before the record ended.
