Mods
Photographer Henry rant labeled this photograph which dates from 1963 as 'Mods'. The name came from the word modernist and became associated with young, popular fashion which broke away from the more formal fashions of the 1950s. Young people had disposable income for the first time and spent their money on clothes and music. Initially in the 1960s female fashion for Mods was largely androgynous but one of the features of the mod style was that it constantly changed and each successive age group had a different look.
