Ton Up boys outside the Ace Café
Ton Up boy in the doorway of the Ace Cafe in Stonebridge, Brent. The British motorcycle industry was at its peak and the cafe became a popular meeting place for young bikers who came to listen to music on the juke box as well as to race. Ton Up boys were motorbike riders who raced their bikes trying to reach the 100 miles per hour or 'the magic ton'. They readily adopted the Ace Cafe's motto 'Bikes 'N' Leather, Rock 'N' Roll Forever'.
