Women and Children taking part in the St Pancras Rent Strike
Women protesting against the eviction of Don Cooke from his council flat in Kennistoun House. Women had formed the backbone of the tenants associations which protested against the dramatic rent increases imposed by St Pancras Council. This was partly because many were available during the day to march and demonstrate and partly because they were less likely to be arrested by the police than male protestors.
