Model of Moby Dick at London Zoo
A model of fictional whale Moby Dick on exhibition at London Zoo in May 1955. The model of the whale, of which only the head was on display at the zoo, was created by Elstree Studios for the film Moby Dick which stared Gregory Peck. It was intended to be as lifelike as possible its creation was supervised by the National Institute of Oceanography. Once filming had finished the life size model of the sperm whale was given to London Zoo.
