Vale of Health Pond, Hampstead Heath
Vale of Heath Pond in August 1955. There are a groups of men and boys fishing in the pond. The Vale of Health is situated at the South-west corner of Hampstead Heath. It is thought that the name was first used in the early 19th century as a response to the dramatic change in the area from wasteland and marsh to fashionable residence after the Hampstead Water Company drained the marsh here.
