Checking a car engine
An early motor car, a 1906 De Dion Bouton 8hp with crank. The car's number plate is A8432. The A was the prefix given to London when plates were first standardised. Double and Triple letters prefixing a number were introduced in 1932. This car is actually still in existence and is owned by a car enthusiast in Norway. The male driver of the car is dressed in women's costume and is participating in a gala event or rally. Although this car was never registered to run the London to Brighton rally it was perhaps a similar event.
