After the Second World War had finished the damage caused to London by bombing was clear to all. It was very important to clear up and rebuild and the Abercrombie Plan was issued with steps on how this should take place. It took over 20 years for all the work to be completed and there were old bomb sites and craters in London for many years after the war.
