Social History — 1977
Keyring
In 1977 Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Silver Jubilee. Celebrations began on the 6 February, the anniversary of her accession to the throne in 1952. Festivities continued over the following months climaxing on the 7 June with the Queen traveling in her Gold State coach to St Paul's Cathedral for a service. Two days later she sailed from Greenwich to Lambeth in the tradition of Elizabeth I's grand barge trips on the Thames in the 16th century. Cheap souvenirs like this key ring were volume-produced to commemorate the events.
