Car Repair Shop, Acklam Road
A group of men are pictured working at a car repair shop on Acklam Road, Notting Hill.
Like other photographs taken by Phillips which were included in the exhibition 'Roots to Reckoning', this photograph focuses on the area in London where he lived. A self-taught photographer, Phillips acquired his first camera aged 15 and later worked as a freelance photographer for magazines such as 'Harpers Bazaar' and 'Life'.
