Notting Hill Carnival
Revellers at the Notting Hill Carnival, Notting Hill, August 1968. The Carnival has taken place annually since 1966 as a celebration and showcase of Black music, dance and culture in London that attracts people from all walks of life. It was first established in St Pancras Town Hall in response to the Notting Hill race riots' of 1958. This photo was taken by Charlie Phillips who documented the experience of the Black British community in the area of North Kensington throughout the 1960s and 1970s
