Bob Marley outside Marylebone Court House
This photograph by Neil Kenlock was included in the 2006 Museum of London exhibition 'Roots to Reckoning'. It depicts the singer-songwriter Bob Marley standing outside Marylebone Court. The Jamaica-born musician came to England in 1976 and, during his stay in London, he was arrested and convicted for possessing cannabis.
Marley rose to fame with his band, 'Bob Marley and the Wailers', before becoming a successful solo artist. He toured extensively during the 1970s and up until his death in 1981. Marley had many hit records, including 'I Shot the Sherriff', 'No Woman, No Cry' and 'Redemption Song'. Several singles recorded by Marley were released posthumously during the 1980s and 1990s.
A number of photographs by Kenlock were acquired by the Museum following the 'Roots to Reckoning' exhibition.
