Cylinder, phonograph cylinder
The handwritten description on this wax phonograph cylinder's box reads "1st & last verses of Hymn "Eternal Father" / Sung at Lyndale on 31st Dec 02" and in pencil - "What Oh" finish by Uncle Howard".
'Lyndale' was the name of Cromwell Wall's house at 33 Parkhurst Road, New Southgate. Cromwell made this recording on New Year's Eve 1902. He is standing on the right of the attached photograph with his wife Minnie (beside him) and his nine children, (from right to left) Gladys, Hilda, Oliver, Leslie, Hampden, Doris, Howard, Muriel and Phyllis, in the garden at Lyndale.
