Protestors marching on May Day 1959
Henry Grant took this photograph of the 1959 May Day march. Participants are carrying banners with statements and slogans declaring ‘socialism not opportunism’. From the late 19th Century May Day across Europe has traditionally been a day of political protest and is often marked by demonstrations, marches and rallies.
