Young girls play on Ladbroke Grove
Young girls play in the street during Half Term holidays, March 1957. At the beginning of the 20th century the area around Ladbroke Grove was predominantly working class, the large houses having been split into flats by this stage. By the 1950s the area had degenerated further and had become synonymous with inner city deprivation. Many socially concerned photographers and photojournalists such as Henry Grant took photographs of the area to raise awareness of the deprivation.
