Funfair worker
This fairground worker was photographed in Hampstead Heath. A weekly fair was held here as well as the more popular and larger Bank Holiday Fairs held at Easter, spring and late summer. Thousands of Londoners travelled to Hampstead Heath to attend these fairs which featured a big wheel, swings, dodgems, carousels, helter skelters, palmistry, coconut shies, shooting ranges, street photographers and refreshment stalls. The fairground workers would have set up the rides, managed them whilst the fair was open and then dismantled them, clearing up afterwards leaving the Heath as they had found it.
