Two boys at the Franklyn D. Roosevelt School
These are children at the Franklin D. Roosevelt School for disabled children in Hampstead. The school was the first one of its type to be built in London since World War II. The American president Roosevelt, after whom the school was named, was paralysed in both legs due to polio. The school educated physically disabled children with conditions such as cerebral palsy, haemophilia, heart disease and tuberculosis. The school provided facilities for learing as well as physiotherapy.
