Bar rumba
Flyer advertising the opening of Bar Rumba in Shaftesbury Avenue in the heart of the West End, 10 September 1993. It lists DJs and bands playing popular genres of dance music such as disco, garage, acid, jazz and Latin. The bar drew on the contemporary popularity of Latin music such as rumba and salsa for its theme. The playlist for the club’s opening week shows that there was a ‘live Latin jam session’, although most of the other nights featured other types of dance music. The club's food is a blend of Spanish tapas and Mexican food, while most of its customers are European.
