Printed Ephemera — 1960
New sights of London
A 96 page booklet published by the London County Counil outlining their plans and achievements in the task of reconstructing and modernising London. The booklet was aimed at the general public and intended to publicise the council's work. It sets out the LCC's achievements with reference to their development plan of 1955, particularly in housing and schools. Many of the LCC's flagship high-rise housing estates in south and east London are featured. The cover images underline London's new modernist architectural look and include the 1958 statue 'The Lesson' by Franta Belsky, sited in a housing estate in Bethnal Green as part of the LCC's public art programme.
