Miniature chair, baby house chair
This miniature chair is taken from the drawing room of the dolls' house originally owned by Lady Anne Blackett. 'Baby houses' were often miniature replicas of real country houses with the interiors reproduced to scale. Chairs of this type were in fashion around the middle of the eighteenth century. The miniature version has been upholstered in silk and has carved decorative features on the legs. The Blacketts would probably have had real chairs like this in their drawing room at Matfen Hall.
