Printed Ephemera — 1976
American London
Booklet issued by London Transport in 1976 to mark the bicentenary of American Independence in 1776. London's links with the US are highlighted, and it lists 'some of the colourful places associated with America that can be found in London', all of which are accessible by bus or tube. These include the American Church in London, the American Embassy in Grosvenor Square, the weathervane on Liberty's in the shape of the 'Mayflower', and Kew Gardens, where plants that were introduced into Britain from America still grow. The cover of the leaflet depicts the statue of George Washington in Trafalgar Square.
