Invoice, receipt
Invoice or receipt issued on a printed letterhead from St George's Hospital for the Sick and Lame to Sir Joseph Tylney Long on 29 June 1793. The receipt refers to Joseph Long's payment of an annual charity subscription to the hospital. The receipt also includes two roundels depicting scenes from the book of Luke and printed extracts from the bible that refer to the giving of charity.
The part printed part handwritten receipt has the following information: 'Received the 29 day of June 1793 from Sir Jos Tylney Long, the Sum of five Guineas being his subscription towards the Relief of The Sick, Lame & Needy in St George's Hospital, near Hyde Park Corner, to Ladyday 1794', signed by the treasurers. St George's Hospital was totally supported by such voluntary subscriptions.
