Sampler
Cream woollen canvas sampler worked in polychrome silks in cross, stem, satin and buttonhole stitches, with a design of flowers surrounding an oval containing three moral or religious sayings. Inscription: "Hannah Gale August 6 1796". Two sides are hemmed, two sides are selvedges with blue thread. The sampler has been framed and shows tear-holes and discolouring at edges where it was attached to the frame.
