Indian Soldier, Edward VII's Coronation
This photograph shows one of the 1000 soldiers of the Indian Army who took part in Edward VII's Coronation Procession in 1902. It was taken at Richmond Park, where the soldiers camped during their stay in London. The Indian campsites at Richmond and Hampton Court camp sites were described by a contemporary commentator as 'a microcosm of India on the banks of the Thames.'
