Printed Ephemera — 1919-1936
Poster
Poster produced by Hudson and Kearns advertising the Royal Express Mail Service, an air mail service which ran once daily between London and Paris. It shows a biplane flying between a silhouette of St. Paul's Cathedral and an outline of the Eiffel Tower. The first overseas airmail service was tried out in 1918 when the Royal Air Force and the British Army Post Office carried mail between Folkestone and Cologne. In November 1919 a public air mail service was introduced, operating between London and Paris.
