London &c. actually survey'd
Map, black ink on off white paper. Sheet five, upper middle row, left, showing John Ogilby presenting the list of subscription for his Survey of London and Westminster to Charles II and Catherine of Braganza. Dedication states 'To His most Sacred Majestie Charles II . To His Royal consort our most gracious Queen Catherine, And to the most illustrious Prince and Princess James and Mary Duke and Duchess of York etc. Whose bounty encouraged Mr Ogilby to begin the Actual Survey of England whereof this being part is most rightfully and humbly dedicated by their Majesties and Royal Highnesses most dutiful and obedient survant. William Morgan, His Majesties Cosmographer.' Second dedication reads 'To the Kings most Excellent Majesty. Dread Soveraign, In prosecution of this survey begun by Mr Ogilby I here present your majesty with your truly great City, in length 7 mile and a half, in bredth 2 mile and a quarter. By your Majesties happy return restored to liberty. By your abundant goodness raised from its ashes, and under your Majesties most gratious government grown soe rich and populous, that noe prince in Europe commands the like' etc.
